Unleash Your Momentum: The Power of Showing Up
Feeling under the weather???
Are you considering taking a few sick days...π€
I feel shocking. I ache, my head hurts, and I think I've caught a bug off one of the kids.
But did you know that just by showing up like I've done today, you are already ahead of most people. It's a small step that can have enormous implications on your life's trajectory. π
Now, if we haven't met before, I'm Chris Burrows and I'm the introverted marketer, and I help you as an introvert discover how you can escape the rat race and thrive on your own terms as an empowered, introverted entrepreneur.
So I want to know, have you ever had one of those days where you just don't feel like showing up a bit like me today?
Ready To Take The Day Off?
Now, whether it's for work, family commitments, or even personal goals, we've all been there at one time or another. But today I'm going to talk to you about the power of showing up, especially when you don't feel like doing it.
So let me share a little bit of a story with you today. I woke up feeling terrible with absolutely zero motivation. The weather's gloomy outside. I've got an overwhelming to-do list a headache. I couldn't bear the thought of dealing with another day of challenges while also battling whatever this bug that I've picked up is. But I showed up anyway.
And guess what?
Today is actually turning out to be one of the most productive days I've had in months!π
I've tackled tasks that were lagging behind. I've connected with my team more efficiently and even made time for an impromptu lunch date with my beautiful wife, Alison.
Well... What Will One Missed Day Even Do?
I've dragged myself into action and I actually feel a lot better for it. So how does showing up even when you don't feel like it serve you, your family and your future?
Well, momentum is absolutely key. When you show up, you are building momentum. That first step can lead to a more productive day, which can positively impacts the rest of your week, never mind just now. And consistency builds trust by consistently showing up, you're not only proving to others that you're reliable, but you're also building trust in yourself and belief in yourself.
And then personal growth. π
Every time you overcome that initial reluctance, you are reinforcing resilience and helping yourself grow personally and professionally. Now, remember that 90% of the challenges you face are actually inside your head. You are battling yourself on a day-to-day basis, probably more than anything else.
But if you can give yourself a kickstart to get going, everything is on the up.
So think of it like a train at first. It moves very slowly and it struggles to get those carriages moving out of the station, but the more it pulls and the more momentum it gains, the easier the task of pulling all those carriages becomes. Once it's built up speed and the train's in full motion, it's actually really hard to stop it again. And you are exactly the same. Get into motion, get into that momentum, and you will keep naturally moving forward.
Showing up... Is Half of the Battle
So next time you're feeling like staying in bed or letting the day pass you by you, remember this showing up is half the battle. β°
It's an investment in your future, your family, and ultimately your dreams showing up even when you don't feel like it is a powerful act, both to yourself and to the people are looking on. It signifies commitment, resilience, and a positive mindset. π
And those qualities are essential for achieving whatever your goals are, whether they be financial independence, effective time management, or most importantly, a balanced and fulfilling life.
